Jessie Reyez (pronounced the Colombian way “Yessie”) is a pop singer on the rise. The Toronto-born singer/songwriter debuted her first single “Figures” in 2016 and has already received a lot of attention from her peers.
The 25 year old of Colombian descent grew up dancing, particularly hip-hop. After the end of her relationship with her first love, she began writing about pain and heartbreak. She performed her poetry around Toronto before being admitted to The Remix Project – an arts academy that aims to connect artistic individuals to create positive situations in all mediums. It was here that she was introduced to Chicago’s King Louie and he first heard her music. King Louie immediately wanted to work with her and shortly thereafter the two recorded “Living In The Sky”.
The singer/songwriter has also teamed up with big names like Chance the Rapper, Skrillex and Babyface. She’s currently working on her debut album and will be performing at Schuba’s June 14th. Ticket information below.
