The kids with the “Pumped Up Kicks,” Foster the People, are back. Today the band went on overload with the release of three new songs: “Doing It For the Money,” “Pay the Man,” and “S.H.C.”
The three new tracks will all on their upcoming, yet to be announced third album following Supermodel (2014) and Torches (2011) and mark the first release of new music since the standalone single “The Unforeseeable Fate of Mr. Jones,” released back in 2015. While the three tracks have all been previewed live, the three tracks are released in their official versions for purchase or stream through your service of choice, and all have “summer hit” potential.
“Doing It for the Money” sounds more like a beat for Kendrick Lamar or Gucci Mane but still has a solid hook, while “Pay The Man” is a straight up pop jam. “S.H.C.” will most definitely be the official “sun’s out, windows down” jam that you will hear the entire summer. All three tracks solidify Foster the People as one of the biggest forces in current pop music.
While not outright stating it, the band noted that today’s political and social climate urged the band to release the three new tracks. “One of my favorite things about music is that it’s unifying,” the band said on Twitter. “We wrote these songs to reflect joy in a time where people have needed it more than ever and we thought it was a good time to share them with you.”
While an album title or release date have yet to be announced, something is surely close behind as these songs start creeping their way into the charts. You can check them out below and be sure to catch them on tour this summer.
