Future Islands Announces Fall 2017 Tour Dates

Following their performances at the Arts and Music festival, Coachella, Future Islands have announced the band will be adding bunch of dates to their tour in support of this year’s The Far Field. With 20 new dates being added to an already extensive run of dates it’s going to be a busy summer for the band. The tour schedule now will run into late November and includes stops in Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Seattle, LA, Dallas, Houston, and more.

Future Islands will embark on a European tour April 27th before returning to North American for a run that starts May 25th in Providence, Rhode Island. Future Islands new North American dates will start off in early September with a gig in Richmond, Virginia, and wrap up almost a month later in Boston, Massachusetts. For two very special dates, they’ll share the stage alongside Explosions in the Sky.

While this extensive schedule would prove daunting to some, the band’s attitude ahead of the schedule is nothing but optimistic. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, singer Samuel Herring spoke about how important the band’s live show is to him.

“I don’t really have a ‘happy place’; a happy memory is also something you long for, something that’s not there, so I don’t really have them. I go to the coast when I’m home and it makes me feel like a kid again. It’s beautiful to hear the sounds, to smell it.But it all becomes the longing for something that’s not there. My happiest place in this world is the stage. That’s where I have purpose. It’s what makes me know I deserve to be – not that I need to be – on this earth.”
