Sufjan Stevens, The National’s Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, and drummer James McAlister have been hard at work on their album Planetarium, a solar-system inspired album set for release on June 9th, according to COS.
Not only is the group releasing this album but they are bringing it on tour for a select set of tour dates this summer. There are only four tour dates, including Brooklyn, Oakland, Los Angeles and one date in Paris. Unfortunately this is pretty limited for everyone else out there, but on the positive side this is the first time that the four will be playing and promoting the album at the exact same time. There will also be a string and brass section to accompany them and add to the enriched sound.
Along with the announcement of a tour, they have also released the music video for their second single “Mercury.” With song titles like this, it is obvious that the solar system inspiration is very strong. Be sure to check out the video, and if you live close or are down for a road trip, then check them out on tour.
