Record Store Day @ Rough Trade 4/22

For music lovers, what’s better than Record Store Day? (And for those of you who think that it’s just another day, think again.) RSD is a major thing–and if you don’t already know about it, you should!

So, what is Record Store Day exactly? It first came about back in 2008 as a way to bring buzz and support to all the indie record stores out there that are dedicated to music, to the history of vinyl and the evolution of its “rebirth,” and as a way to celebrate that whole culture while uniting artists and fans together in one place. The organization works with labels to create contests, special releases and promotions to help drive a positive turnout on RSD (which is April 22), and will hopefully keep music lovers coming back to that shop to buy records and to keep alive that rad music lifestyle.

This year’s Record Store Day ambassador is St.Vincent (and be sure to check out her Funny or Die video here), and with her super indie vibe and colorful personality, RSD is bound to be one stellar celebration. At Rough Trade this year, artists Sunflower Bean, Sneaks, Today is the Day, Charly Bliss and Steve Earle will perform.
