Arcade Fire Members and Mavis Staples Collaborate on Live Performance of Talking Heads’ “Slippery People”

Legendary soul singer Mavis Staples was honored a few years ago during a hometown show by a number of artists. According to PITCHFORK, the footage is just now being released for those who didn’t get a chance to see the performance live. The footage will air on AXS TV on April 16th and then will be available on a CD/DVD set on June 2nd through (Blackbird Presents Records).

There were a number of other artists involved in the performance. Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, and Arcades Fire Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. This is not the first time that Mavis Staples and Arcade Fire worked together. They collaborated on the song “I Give You Power“which gave proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Earlier this year, they announced that they have finished recording a new album along with the announcement that they will be performing at the Roskilide Festival along with A Tribe Called Quest, and the Foo Fighters.
