Wattie Buchan Singer for Legendary Punk Band The Exploited Is Hospitalized with Serious Heart Condition

British punk legend Wattie Buchan was hospitalized last Friday in Belgium due to heart problems. His band The Exploited are currently working through a European tour with The Casualties and Code Red. The band posted a statement to their Facebook page.

“Just to let you guys know that Wattie was taken to hospital yesterday in Belgium.
He has a very serious heart condition and almost died.
I saw him today and would like to thank the doctors who saved his life.
Also he wanted to thank all the fans at last nights show and who turned up to support him and the band.
Wattie would like us to continue the tour with out him.
We will still be playing our set with guest vocalists from the casualties and others.
We want to thank everyone for their support for us and Wattie.
I know it means a lot to him.
We wish him a speedy recovery
Cheers
The Exploited.”

The lead singer had under gone quadruple bypass surgery in 2014 after suffering a huge heart attack onstage. Despite the heavy blow the singer was back on stage within a year.

This has proved to be a turbulent year for the group who in February saw a man stabbed during a fight at one of their shows. Due to the fight the man was hospitalized and later passed away because of the injuries. It was reported that the fight was started because of references to Nazi groups and is now being seen as a hate crime. The band openly condemned the attack.
