Slightly Stoopid @ Greek Theatre 7/22

California natives Slightly Stoopid are making their way back into the Golden State and heading into The Bay this summer! The band is heading on their Sounds of Summer Tour 2017 and traveling around all of North America. They will be touring with Iration, J Boog, and The Movement.

Slightly Stoopid is mainly known as a reggae-rock band that is based out of my beloved town of Ocean Beach down in San Diego. The band started out back in 1995 and for the past 20 years? Well they’ve been killing it with their unique sound. The most recent work the band has put out was their 2015 album Meanwhile…Back at the Lab, which gave listeners the songs The Prophet, Life Rolls On, and One Bright Day. Previous to that the band has released seven other studio albums and an EP back in 2008. Some of the biggest hits the band has produced are the mainstream hit 2am, Collie Man, Closer to the Sun, Wiseman, Top of the World, and Sweet Honey. My personal favorites from the band include the songs Fuck You and Way You Move. One thing that this band has going for them and I think is one of the main reasons for this success and longevity is that the band’s brand and style is so diverse that it can bring in a variety of listeners. Their song Fuck You, previously mentioned, has a hard, fast, punk style that offers a departure from their signature reggae style, but Slightly Stoopid still shows mastery and respect for the punk genre.

Fans of Dirty Heads, Rebelution, and Sublime will be into this show and this signature SoCal styled band. Slightly Stoopid has been keeping their sound fresh for the past 20 years and has continued to stay true to their SoCal roots and influence. Keep it real with this amazing band and grab some tickets!
