Conor Oberst @ The Fox Theatre 5/12

Indie-rock singer Conor Oberst is kicking off his summer this May and heading into Oakland! He will be performing at The Fox Theatre on May 12th. He will be touring in support of his newest album Salutations. Opening for the performer will be the musicians Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers.

Oberst is known widely for his participation within various indie-rock bands that became successful, such as Norman Bailer, Desaparecidos, and Bright Eyes. Besides that, the musician has been flying solo since 2012. As mentioned before, Oberst’s latest album Salutations came out this past March. The album produced the songs A Little Uncanny, Tachycardia, and Napalm. Previous to that he has put out six other solo albums. Other big songs the singer-songwriter is known for are Cape Canaveral, Barbary Coast, Artifact #1, Next of Kin, You Are Your Mother’s Child, and We’re Going To Be Friends. While in bands, some of the biggest songs that got his name really out there include the songs Bright Eyes’ First Day Of My Life and Lua and with Desaparecidos the songs The Left is Right and Manana also were incredibly successful. So, because of Oberst’s colorful past with various bands, this artist has proven his diversity and versatility as an artist. In Bright Eyes and with his solo work, he masters soft, indie ballads and with Desaparecidos he does rock songs just as well.

Fans of City and Color, Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties, and The Mountain Goats will be into this show as all of those musical acts are similar in style and sound as Oberst. Grab some tickets and hop on over to Oakland and watch this dude perform!
