Imaginary People’s debut EP from 2013 was the band’s first introduction to their punky, energetic sound, followed by Dead Letterbox in 2015, and now they’re on tour to not just play some of their old tunes, but also to play some of their new, as well. Their latest album October Alice is due out this month, and was produced by Kevin McMahon (of Real Estate, Titus Andronicus, Swans).
The New York group (Dylan Von Wagner, Mark Roth, Justin Repasky, Kolby Wade, and Bryan Percivall) combines elements of mystery in their songs, shaken up with an electric Brit-pop wave, and it’s overall very fun music–like the soundtrack to a Saturday night in a grungy part of the city with a lot of leather and neon.
Their show at Mercury Lounge is a record release show, so it will be a celebration of new songs–songs that are rumored to be super intense, a little on the dark side (to continue the trend of their previous discography) and best appreciated when listened to all together, one right after the other.
