Drummer From The Fall’s Beaten During Train Attack

Kieron Melling, drummer of English post-punk band The Fall, is at home recovering at being physically assaulted on a train last week.

Last Monday on the train from Manchester Victoria too Blackburn, Melling was “beaten to a pulp” and “lying in a pool of blood” by two men according to the Manchester Evening News. The 34 year older drummer now suffers from ‘nasty’ head injuries.

British Transport Police released a CCTV image of the two men suspected of committing the assault.

Ed Blaney manager of The Fall, confirmed that Melling’s injuries, but didn’t comment any further. Sergeant Stephen Kite described the attack as a ‘horrific assault.’ Kite further added that “The behaviour of the two suspects who fled the area makes me believe they are not residents of Smithy Bridge. They seemed lost and confused so it is likely they intended to stay on the train until a later destination. Therefore, we would also like to appeal to people from Blackburn and other areas who may know who these men are.”

Fans have been offering their best wishes to Kieron as recovers from the attack.
