The garage/psychedelic-rock multi-instrumentalist, Ty Segall, will be coming to Austin at the end of May. The 29-year-old is from Laguna Beach, California. Just before starting his solo career in 2008, Segall was a part of several different underground bands. Some fans may know him as “Sloppo,” which is the baby mask he will perform in at times. The soloist is currently signed under Drag City, Goner Records and In the Red.
On top of his solo career, Segall has also been a member of several bands in the past. He is currently a member of FUZZ, Broken Bat and GØGGS. Being a solo artist calls for Segall to be backed-up by a band. He is currently being backed by The Freedom Band, which has some of the same members from The Muggers and Ty Segall Band that backed him in the past.
Segall has released nine studio albums, several EP’s and singles since his solo career started. Ty Segall was his very first record released in 2008, which is also the same title as his most recent album that was released in January 2017. It’s impressive that on March 17, 2017, he let out his Sentimental Goblin EP in less than two months after his new record. Many of Segall’s songs have the typical heavy fuzzy guitar riffs that he’s known for, along with his lo-fi vocals and normally some strange sounds thrown in.
Don’t miss out on the one and only, Ty Segall, at Stubb’s on May 27th
