Mute Announces Partnership with Throbbing Gristle and Add Catalog to Streaming Services and Reissue Classic Releases

Throbbing Gristle And Mute’s classic catalog is now available on streaming platforms for the first time thanks to a new partnership between the old friends.

Even more exciting, this is being described as the first phase of the partnership! Plans have been set out for the next three years for all of the band’s classic catalog to be made available in digital and physical formats, while also making available long out of print and important works from the group.

Also included will be new box sets of previously unreleased material and imagery released in the coming years as part of the deal. This follows the news of Throbbing Gristle’s core members having taken part in the COUM Transmissions program in Hull over the last month.

The influential British band had been co-founded by Peter Christopherson who tragically passed away back in 2010. Christopherson (aka Sleazy) left a mark in the music industry by helping to form Throbbing Gristle and Coil.

In addition to the partnership, Chris Carter will also release his first solo album in 18 years on Mute in the autumn of this year. Cosey Fanni Tutti will be releasing her autobiography, Art Sex Music, via Faber on April 6. Genesis Breyer P-Orridge is performing a reinterpretation of the soundtrack to Derek Jarman’s In The Shadow Of The Sun and has performed a number of special shows recently with Aaron Dilloway.

While you wait for further details of their plans with Mute you can check out Throbbing Gristle’s catalog on Spotify!
