Ellen Allien has announced that her 7th solo LPNost will be dropping on May 12 on her BPitch imprint. The album will be Allien’s first LP for the club since 2010 which is appropriate with a title is drawn from the word ‘nostalgia’. Containing nine tracks, each track will pay homage to her 25-year long career as a DJ.
Nost is the seventh album to come from the Berlin-born producer, and it is described as “the work of an artist who has deep knowing; knowing of one’s self, knowing of where she’s coming from and knowing of where she’s going.”
Nost is said to give listeners “the quintessential sound of Berlin … brooding, sinister at times and utterly lascivious”, which sonically translates to raw analogue synthwork, industrial atmospheres and acidic touches, alongside her signature vocal additions.
The LP also distorts and layers her own vocals throughout the album in true Ellen Allien style.
With ‘Nost Ellen Allien delivers a long-player which is coherent, contemporary and a joy to listen to. Whether you’re in a sweat-covered club or simply chilling at home, this will provide the perfect soundtrack. It is the work of a woman who has found herself, yet still pushes herself to go beyond her comfort zone, still creating, still learning and still yearning for more.
