Helium Announces New Rarities Collection Ends With And and Releases Song “Hole In The Ground”

Mary Timony is known for her work in Wild Flag, Autoclave, Ex Hex and of course, Helium. That latter band will be releasing a new rarities collection on May 19 through Matador Records. The first track to be released from the 19-song retrospective is “Hole In The Ground.” Over the course of their short lifespan, Helium released a pair of LPs (The Dirt of Luck, The Magic City), both of which will be reissued by Matador on double LP vinyl. Rounding out the releases is a reissue of the band’s 1997 EP No Guitars. These albums all have been out of print for a decade, so fans of the band’s iconic mid-90s indie rock sound should be excited to finally be able to own physical copies of these excellent records.

Also released from the album is a video for the remastered track “XXX,” which was originally released on the band’s debut EP, Pirate Prude.

In addition to the reissues and the new rarities compilation, Timony has announced that she will go on tour performing Helium songs this summer. The tour lasts from June 6 to June 15 and hits cities like Washington DC, New York City, Boston and Chicago. Joining her on the tour will be Brian Bettencourt and David Christian of the indie pop band Hospitality.
