Philly based punk band Beach Slang is rolling through San Francisco this spring. They will be coming through Great American Music Hall on April 13th. The band is touring with Minus The Bear and Bayonne throughout the U.S.
The inception of the band was in 2013 and they released their first EP Who Could Ever Want Something So Broken? in 2014. The band has gained success within the punk movement and has steadily been touring since its early days. Beach Slang’s most recent release was their sophomore album A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings in 2016. That album is responsible for the hits Punks In A Disco Bar, Future Mixtape For The Art Kids, and Spin The Dial. Previous to that they put out their debut album in 2015 entitled The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us, which has the songs Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas, Throwaways, and Noisy Heaven. Alongside those releases the band has put out three other EPs and one compilation. Other songs they are known for are Dirty Cigarettes, Art Damage, and All Fuzzed Out. My personal favorites from this band are the songs Dirty Cigarettes, The Perfect High, and Pickin’ Flowers For. This band’s style is off the wall, fun, and totally self-aware. The band is comprised of punk band veterans, so they know their audience well. The songs are full of themes of the dichotomy of self-doubt verses self-confidence, bad art, love, and heartbreak. They are the perfect band for the 20-something punk fan.
Fans of Sorority Noise, RVIVR, and The Hotelier will be into this band. They are the indie-punk band that is a staple to have on your Spotify playlist. They build the angst or the self-empowerment out of you. Their music is real, raw, and amazing. So check them out and I know forsure I’ll be spending a bit of my rent money to go to this show… so come along and grab a ticket!
