RIP: Former Boston Drummer Sib Hashian Dead at 67 After Collapsing While Performing on Legends of Rock Cruise

While today has brought plenty of good news for music fans, unfortunately it also came with some very sad news.

Former drummer of legendary rock band Boston, Sib Hashian, recently passed away. According to the drummer’s son, Adam,  Hasian was performing on stage at the Legends of Rock Cruise where he collapsed and died at the age of 67. While the cause of death is unknown, a witness said CPR was performed as well as the use of a defibrillator but could not bring Hasian back to conscience.

Hasian, who always rocked the afro before Bob Ross made it cool, joined Boston in 1975 just in time for their 1976 debut, Boston, which featured the iconic “More Than a Feeling.” Rolling Stone, while naming Boston the 41st best debut album of all time, praised Hasian’s drumming for his “climactic drum fills in the final fade-out” on “More Than a Feeling.”

Hasian also played on their sophomore LP Don’t Look Back and began recording their third LP Third Stage just before he left the band. Hasian also played on former bandmate Barry Goudreau’s self-titled record.

Hasian also has a daughter, Lauren, who has a child of her own with Dwayne Johnson.

While it is a sad loss for the world of rock n’ roll, his legacy will live on in Boston’s timeless music.
