Emo-rock group Sorority Noise is set to perform at Chicago’s Bottom Lounge this May.
The Connecticut-based quartet known as Sorority Noise is an emotionally-driven rock band reluctant to call themselves an “emo band”. That may be because they are a unique group with an eclectic sound that doesn’t really match any other musical genre. Cameron Boucher, Adam “Scuff” Ackerman, Ryan McKenna and Charlie Singer joined forces in late 2013 to create their band. The foursome is very dedicated to their craft. Boucher and Ackerman have both studied music at the university level; Boucher concentrating on jazz saxophone while Ackerman studied acoustics and upright bass.
The band has released three studio albums – Forgettable (2014), Joy Departed (2015) and You’re Not As ____ As You Think You Are which just came out last week. The lead single “No Halo”, like many of the band’s other songs, touches on tough subjects that other groups are sometimes afraid to talk about. Mental illness, suicide and addiction are touched upon and by doing so, help the subjects seem less “taboo”. As most know, it helps to talk these issues out – music seems to be an even better outlet.
