Peter Murphy Residency @ The Chapel

Bauhaus Legend and solo artist Peter Murphy is announcing his residency at San Francisco’s The Chapel. He will be playing collection of shows running from June 20th to July 14th. His iconic songs and a “retrospective” of seven of his albums will be played throughout his time at The Chapel, along with a promise of adding in some Bauhaus classics.

Peter Murphy is known as a rock legend for his membership of the band Bauhaus which was huge in the 70’s. He’s known as the “Godfather of Goth” for his dark punk/rock sound. His voice and his aesthetic (those cheekbones!) are part of what cultivated his status as an icon. Murphy started out in his rock band Bauhaus back in the 70s and when the band broke up he went solo. His last released album was 2014’s Lion, which gave the hits Hang Up, I Am My Own Name, and Lion. Previous to that Murphy has released nine other albums spanning his solo career. His biggest hits include Cuts You Up, All Night Long, A Strange Kind of Love, and Indigo Eyes. After being introduced to Murphy’s work I personally love his songs I’ll Fall With Your Knife and Marlene Dietrich’s Favorite Poem. His songs are haunting because of his unique voice and accompanied with his use of keyboard make for amazing songs. Bauhaus, for those unaware, was a huge British rock band. It was known widely for being one of the best bands for pioneering Goth-Rock and for it’s iconic songs Bela Lugosi’s Dead, covering Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, and All We Wanted Was Everything, which has been widely covered by a variety of musicians.

Fans of The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Damned will be into this show if they haven’t yet learned of the talent of Peter Murphy. His residency at The Chapel will be something you don’t want to miss. It is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity, so don’t waste this chance buds and grab some tickets!
