LISTEN: Feist Releases New Song “Pleasure”

Just a few days after the announcement of her new album, Feist has released the first new song from it. “Pleasure” happens to share a name with the album, Pleasure, which is the Canadian singer-songwriter’s first since 2011. The song is a minimalist piece of alternative pop, dominated by her capable vocals but buoyed by stellar guitar work and a pounding bass drum.

She will also be performing at Off Festival, which is held in Katowice, Poland where she will play on bill with artists like Shellac, Swans, Talib Kweli and more. That’s not the only chance to catch her live and perhaps playing new songs: she will be a part of the bill for Justin Vernon’s Eaux Claires Festival, held in Eau Claire, WI. She also has a date scheduled at Fort York in Toronto. Feist will also be featured on an upcoming Broken Social Scene album, which is expected to be released sometime in 2017.

As mentioned before, Pleasure is Feist’s first album since she released Metals in 2011 – however, the long period of time between albums is fairly par for the course with the singer. Her commercial breakthrough came with “1234” off of 2007’s The Reminder and then four years passed before Metals.

UPDATE (4/12): Feist has released a video for the song “Pleasure.” The simple clip features the singer belting out the single in front of a funhouse mirror, contorting her face and body.
