Red Hot Chili Peppers Live at the Staples Center, Los Angeles

The Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered an energetic performance at the Staples Center for their hometown of Los Angeles. “We’re so happy to be here. Damn, I love Los Angeles,” said Flea to the packed house Tuesday night. It’s been over three years since the band last had a world tour.

Fresh off their 11th studio album, The Getaway, the band brought out their classic hits such as “Can’t Stop,” “Dani California”  and “Scar Tissue.” This is the second album recorded by their current lineup, which features guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who has been in the band since 2010.

The album’s single, “Dark Necessities,” went to number one on the Billboard charts, the thirteenth time the band have achieved this feat, beating out Linkin Park and U2 for the title of most number ones in the Alternative Songs chart. Kiedis had said that Danger Mouse was the reason “Dark Necessities” became the first single. The band had pushed for “The Getaway” to be the first single, while management and the record label wanted “Go Robot” instead.

The band are currently finishing up their North American dates after which they will head down to Mexico and South America until October 2017.

Mauricio Alvarado: I've been a concert photographer for the past 5 years. My work has been featured on various music magazines and websites. Some of the bands I've photographed are Yes, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Santana, and many more. I'm obsessed with 70's Progressive Rock music. I enjoy photographing bands that I grew up listening to. I'm also a big vinyl record collector since I was in High School. I always enjoy taking my albums to shows and getting them signed by the bands.
