WATCH: Amanda Palmer and Edward Ka-Spel Release New Video for “Beyond the Beach”

The recently-announced collaboration between Amanda Palmer and Edward Ka-Spel is back in the form of a video for “Beyond the Beach.” The song will be on the duo’s album, I Can Spin a Rainbow, which is due out on May, 5 2017. Palmer is best known for her solo career as well as her work as the frontwoman of The Dresden Dolls. Ka-Spel is known for his work in the long-running psychedelic group The Legendary Pink Dots.

The song retains a slower tempo throughout, with Palmer and Ka-Spel trading lines in the verses. Both adopt a somber, matter-of-fact cadence throughout the song, which suites the impressive visuals. According to a Tweet from Palmer, the video was directed by visual artist Chiara Ambrosia. In fact, “Beyond the Beach was specifically chosen by Ambrosia after Palmer reached out to her and asked her what songs most spoke to her. By itself, “Beyond the Beach” is a haunting piece of chamber psychedelia, but the accompanying video and puppeteer work by Mikey Kirkpatrick creates a truly complete work of art.

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Shahla’s Missing Page
3. The Shock of Kontakt
