The Shins have recent announced a North American tour that will be held from March 10th to August 6th. Along with this, the band also released two new videos that are alternatives to the song “Name For You”.
The song is from the newly released album Heartworm, and was rewritten from scratch by James Mercer. The two singles from this album are “Name For You” and “Dead Alive”.The album was the band’s first studio album in five years, and was mostly produced James Mercer. Former member Richard Swift produced the song “So Now What”. This was all released through Columbia Records.
There are two different stories for the two videos listed below. According to the press release, the first video, directed by Jon Sortland, follows a day in the life of skateboarders, Savannah Headden and Samarria Brevard. The video was set in Southern California and contains cartoon like animation. The second video was recomposed by James Mercer, directed by Zaiba Jabber and co-directed by John Sortland and Mark Watrous, featuring the actress Trace Lyssette brings up the topic of the non-binary nature of gender.
The tour will be supporting the band’s release of the album. During the time in March to August, the band will also make a few stop at some music festivals such as Sasquatch Music Festival and Bunbury Music Festival. Tour dates are listed below.
UPDATE (3/13): The Shins have recently extended their tour up to August 23rd. Now the band will be traveling to places in Western Europe such as England and Germany.
