The 1998 British virtual super stars led by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, have just announced their first show since 2010 at the inaugural edition of their very own festival, Demon Dayz. The festiival, named after their second album, is to be held in Maragate, England on June 10. The one-day fest will be held at the Dreamland amusement park. While the headliner for the festival will be the Gorillaz, the rest of the lineup will be announced soon. According to Pitchfork, the festival will include free access to all of the park’s rides and will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV. The festival flyer can be seen below.
This current announcement is in support of the group’s recent single release, “Hallelujah Money,” seen below. The new track is off of their forthcoming unnamed follow up to 2011’s The Fall. The new single features Benjamin Clementine, an English poet, composer and musician. This will be the Gorillaz’s fifth studio album and their fourth tour as group, more shows to be announced soon. The initial announcement toward the album’s completion came from a conversation between a fan and Albarn in London. The lucky fan’s name is Jack, who happened to run into Albarn and strike up a conversation with him. The groups founding member told Jack that “they’ve just finished the album and they’re rehearsing right now.” The excited fan then took to Twitter to share the good news with social media, seen below.
