R.E.M. and Sleater Kinney Members Form Filty Friends and Release new Song “Any Kind of Crowd”

A new band has formed called the Filthy Friends has formed between Peter Buck from R.E.M., Corin Tucker from Sleater-Kinney, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin from The Minus 5, Kurt Bloch from The Young Fresh Fellow.

Filthy Friends is a alternative rock that formed in January 2016, during this time the band focused on performing covers. According to Consequence of Sound, the group first performed and made their debut on the Todos Santos Music Festival.

The band is now back with the second track and has released “Any Kind of Crowd”, which will be the band’s first single. This song has fast repetitive drum beat and brings out a 90’s rock type of atmosphere. Along with this type, the band sings together during the chorus parts. This release will mark the band’s first release for Kill Rock Stars and will be released as a 7″ single.

Three years ago, Corin Tucker and Peter Buck had teamed up to create the band called super-Earth. They were joined by the same artists in this band to play shows.
