British folk songstress Laura Marling is back with the final piece of the rollout before her upcoming album, Super Femina.
The new track, “Nothing, Not Nearly,” is a bluesy, country song that pendulums back and forth between acoustic chord strumming and droning electric guitar strokes. Lyrically, Marling echoes a bit of B.B. King’s blues masterpiece, “The Thrill is Gone,” as she laments love temporality. “We’ve not too long, you know, to bask in the afterglow,” she bemoans. “Once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
The new track is the fourth single in her rollout for Super Femina, following the well-received “Next Time,” “Soothing,” and “Wild Fire.”
The new album is produced by Blake Mills and is due out next week (March 10) through Marling’s own More Alarming Records. Check out the new track below and get your streaming service up and ready for the new album.
