Indie pop duo Sylvan Esso announced the release date for their upcoming album What Now as April 28 via Loma Vista Recordings. What Now will be the groups second album, following their 2014 debut with their self titled album Sylvan Esso. As the LP was recorded during 2016, one of the most hectic presidential election years of present time, it will be covering topics dealing with the current political climate in the United States as well as personal sentiments. According to a press release from Sylvan Esso, the album is “about falling in love and learning that it won’t save you; about the over sharing of information and the fine line between self-awareness and narcissism; about meeting one’s own personal successes but feeling the fizzling embers of the afterglow rather than the roar of achievement; about the crushing realization that no progress can ever feel permanent.”

So far, they’ve released two songs off the upcoming album, including “Radio,” and “Kick Jump Twist,” both available as 12″ vinyls and digital copies. Before the album release, Sylvan Esso is set to be at Austin’s SXSW 2017 where they will perform at two parties including Independence and Lagunitas’s Austin Bugout party and the AV Club and the Onion’s Just Another Manic Monday SXSW 2017 Party alongside Mothers. Last year, the band also had couple of live shows, including when they performed at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco.
