After 5 years with no new music the Gorillaz are back! Following their January release of “Hallelujah Money” Gorillaz visionary, Damon Albarn, leaked information of an upcoming album and tour to an unsuspecting super fan. The information was posted with its validation of truth a picture of the fan and Albarn standing together on the street. The caption reads “Damon … Albarn” and later tells how “They just finished the album and they are rehearsing right now.”
Gorillaz are back and now we know they have plans for a full album and tour. A few days ago Seye, group drummer, posted a picture to Instagram of him in the studio. The picture stated the “Working hard” further cementing the fact that more music is on the way from the Gorillaz. The band has been giving us bread crumbs throughout 2016, like the band accidentally leaking a live caption on their website along with new press photos. Fans have eaten the latest news with expected delight.
The bands 2010 album Plastic Beach, was awarded mxdwn album of the year followed by the 2011 album Fall which, also received wide critical acclaim. This marks 6 years since the fans appetite for new music has been satisfied. “Hallelujah Money” was a welcome sign of things to come, the track is politically fueled, anti Trump goliath. The british rock band chose a huge time in American politics to bring driven new music to the masses. “Hallelujah Money” offers an interestingly barren and simple beat and large vocals from artist Benjamin Clementine. The group is set for a big year and fans cant wait.
