Celebrating the year 1994, Punk rock musician Ryan Adams, covered Bruce Springsteens iconic 1994 single “Streets of Philadelphia,” On BBC Radio 6. Originally written for the film Philadelphia, which dealt with the with the HIV/ AIDs epidemic, “Streets of Philadelphia won an Oscar for best original song. Recently, Adams released his sixteenth studio album titled Prisoner this past month. In review of the album from Consequence of Sound, they described the heartbreak album.” On Prisoner, not only does he refuse to let an incredibly tight album unravel and tangle, but his craft reflects a songwriter who understands how to make each line count and earn his indulgences. Songs like the teetering “Shiver and Shake” and cantering “To Be Without You” are perfect exercises in minimalism, eschewing choruses and emphasizing a plaintive, matter-of-fact delivery that puts the onus on Adams to unburden himself as succinctly as possible.”
