Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit is at it again. On the heels of six new songs being released in just about a week’s span, he has dropped another new track via the Passion Pit Twitter page. The newest song is titled “Undertow.” In addition to releasing these songs at a breakneck pace, he has also hinted at a new Passion Pit album, presumably to be titled Tremendous Sea of Love.
The last Passion Pit album from Angelakos, Kindred was not released all that long ago on Columbia Records – 2015 to be exact. Whenever it is released, Tremendous Sea of Love would mark the fourth full-length album from Passion Pit. So far, the songs released in February are “Inner Dialogue,” “Somewhere Up There,” “Hey K,” “Moonbeam,” “I’m Perfect” and “You Have The Right.”
As far as the new song, “Undertow,” the glitchy electronic track is set over a simple rhythm and incorporates elements that recall late 80s and early 90s R&B. Despite the foreboding title of the song, it is in fact quite upbeat. Vocally, Angelakos follows along with the plucking keyboard melody, creating yet another piece of appealing electronic pop.

Besides the impressive release schedule of new music, Angelakos has made news elsewhere. Over the long weekend he mentioned that the promoter of GoodVybes Festival in Manila had not yet paid him for his performance there, despite it year having passed. A week earlier, he announced the formation of a new organization that is aimed at providing musicians with mental health services not provided by their label. With his own mental health being well-documented, it is hard to imagine an artist more equipped and experienced for this new organization. The full details of the organization have not yet been announced.
