Amanda Palmer has finally announced the release of her long awaited collaboration project with The Legendary Pink Dots founder Edward Ka-Spel. The new album is titled I Can Spin Rainbow and is set to see a release on Friday, May 5. Fans will have their choice of either a CD, LP or a digital download of the album, with bonus tracks being made available for vinyl. There will be two separate pre-sale offers for the record. The first pre-sale will take place on Tuesday, February 21 via Palmer’s Patreon page, to those that are Patreons of the page. The second release will be made available to the general public three days later. For a full track list and the album art, see below.

The new collaboration was the fulfillment of a “lifelong dream” of Palmer’s, according to a press release. She has stated in her best-selling 2014 memoir, the Art of Asking, that The Legendary Pink Dots have been a long time inspiration to her and her work. She goes on to explain that their deeply connected relationship with fans was as important to her life and work as their “fearless autonomy and impossible-to-pigeonhole musical approach.”

This will be the first full-length collaboration produced by Palmer and Ka-Spel and is set to be a special one. To celebrate I Can Spin a Rainbow, The two will take the new work on a brief and intimate international tour. The limited shows will begin in the United States on May 17 at The Middle East in Boston, MA and take a trip over seas to Europe on May 31. The European shows will land the duo in Warsaw to start and will then be followed by stops in Munich, Prague, Hamburg, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Paris and London. Palmer and Ka-Spel will be joined on stage by violinist and longtime Legendary Pink Dots contributor Patrick Q. Wright, as he is on the album. For a full list of tour datesf, see below.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
