He also gave his fans an extra little gem when he released a new music video for his 2016 hit “All Around You,” which you can also watch below.

In an interview about the music process, Simpson said “: I guess it being the first time I ever recorded on a major label, I had to be reminded of the toolbox that was now available. I said to Ferg, “Man, it would be cool if we could get someone like the Dap-Kings,” and he just said, “Well, you know Sturgill, you can do that. That’s what Atlantic Records is for.” So I called my A&R guy and said, “I want to get the Dap-Kings.” A couple hours later he had some stuff lined up. They probably shouldn’t have told me all I had to do was ask!”

His most recent album called A Sailor’s Guide to Earth was up for a Grammy this year under the category “Album of the Year,” and even put on an amazing performance at the event to perform a song from his acclaimed album. While the national audience was indeed the biggest crowd the country singer has ever performed for, fans also got a chance to see him live two years ago at the Newport Folk Festival.

McKenzie Dillon: University of Nevada, Reno Alumna. I graduated with a major in writing and a minor in journalism. I enjoy reading, writing, and listening to music of course. I was raised in the bay area, and am thrilled to be living back in California. Catch me at your local music festival, because there's nothing better than laying back in the grass and listening to your favorite bands or discovering new ones.
