LISTEN: Karen Elson Releases New Song “Call Your Name”

Karen Elson has recently released a new song called “Call Your Name”, which will be a part of the new album Double Roses.

The song was released by produced by Jonathan Wilson and Pat Carney. The overall beats and tone of the song adds on to the style that’s presented in the new album, which is described by Noisey as “a reflective, ethereal record, a-swirl with harps, strings, and dusky brass, her dramatic, often piano-driven torch tunes are offset by the rootsier, country-burnished cuts.” The song can be listened to below.

The artist has a soothing voice that mixes well with the light harps and guitar strings in the beginning of the song. As the song enters the middle, the light drums mix in with the other instruments. This overall gives the song a light, warmhearted feeling to the audience.

According to the press release, the artist has said  about the track, “Originally, when I wrote ‘Call Your Name,’ I wanted it be a duet, but I realized that the song is about the two sides of me; the dark and light battling each other. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror and realize that no-one, in essence, can save you from yourself! It’s also a question of my identity, who am I when you strip away the smoke and mirrors.”
