Diamanda Galas has announced a short North American summer tour that will begin in March 31st in Seattle, Washington to April 17st in Chicago, Illinois. The artist has been on tour Europe; this event will be the first time in a while she has been touring and meeting fans outside of New York City.
In previous times of touring, the artist has gotten reviews such as “Composer, vocal powerhouse, contemporary avant-garde icon…hero to modern jazz musicians and extreme metal bands alike” from Rolling Stones and “She sings with an operatic soprano, a death-rattle rasp, work-song rhythms, sustained shrieks, long-lined modal incantations and rapid-fire gibberish; her piano can hint at bluesy boogie-woogie, tinkling Minimalism and cracked church bells. It’s overwhelming.” from The New York Times.
During this month of touring, the artist will be performing in Seattle, Austin and Chicago, and in major cities in California. There will be a three to four day skip between dates. According to the press release, the artist will be performing songs from upcoming albums All The Way and At Saint Thomas The Apostle Harlem, which will both be released on March 24th through the Galás’ Intravenal Sound Operations label. Both of these albums have various themes and have been called “death songs” by the artist as they connect the bring between activism and art. Tour dates are listed below.
