The Avalanches @ The Mezzanine 4/18

Aussie electronic group The Avalanches are heading into the US and headlining a show in San Francisco! The group will be playing The Mezzanine on April 18th and this is one of the few U.S dates they have for their upcoming 2017 tour. They will be playing with musical act Empire Of The Sun. The band’s west coast dates are all centered around the band’s appearance this year at Coachella.

The Avalanches formed about 20 years ago and have found success both in their native Australia and in North America. Their most recent album, Wildflower, was released in 2016 and have received critical success. Some of the best songs to come off this release are the hit Frankie Sinatra, Because I’m Me, and Subways. Frank Sinatra hit a huge success with critics, it can really only be described as an experience to me. The song and the rest of the album is an exciting weave of rap, electronic, and R&B. Previous to that the band has dropped a crazy huge amount of music(five EPs, four mixtapes, seven singles, and four music videos!), but only one other studio album, their 2000 album Since I Left You, which produced their huge cult following. That album is responsible for the hits Frontier Psychiatrist, Since I Left You, and Electricity. Their debut is more instrumental oriented, but still has this crazy intelligent blend of music from other bands and culturally known melodies combined with funky/soul hooks.

Fans of BadBadNotGood, MGMT, and Flying Lotus will be into this show. The band is known for their crazy huge cult following so you know this show is gonna be amazing. Couple that with their insanely anticipated album Wildflower just coming out? It’s gonna be lit. Watch out for when the tickets go on sale later this week (AKA two days my dudes) and hit click!
