And that’s what This Will Destroy You does so well–lure their listeners into an emotional journey with their instrumental rock that’s passionate and layered, energetic and visceral, and somehow perfectly suits your every mood. Think Caspian. Think Russian Circles.
Their first EP Young Mountain was released in 2006–a collection of six songs that was a prime introduction to this foursome from Texas, and was very well-received by not just fans but critics like Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Their music makes you pay attention, but you want to. Their strongest album wasn’t until 2014 with Another Language–one of their deepest album releases that has truly stretched the limits of their experimental and instrumental sound, which you can hear on tracks like “Serpent Mound” and “Memory Loss.”
This Will Destroy You first started as something fun, without expectation, and look at how far they’ve come since then–touring the world, working with producer John Congleton, releasing a live album, and just recently a ten-year anniversary edition of their debut record. TWDY are not headlining their current tour (Deadheaven is), so be sure to get to Warsaw early and prepare yourselves emotionally for a cathartic experience, especially when they play the song “They Move on Tracks of Never-Ending Light”–one of their best.
