Independent record label SST Records may not be as big of a name now as it once was, but it was once home to some of the best punk and alternative artists in the 70s and 80s.
Now, three legendary musicians from SST’s prime are joining up for joint tour this spring. The Meat Puppets and the Minutemen’s Mike Watt (with his early 2000s era backing band The Jom and Terry Show) are co-headlining the tour, and some particular dates will be seeing support from Hüsker Dü’s Grant Hart.
Last year, Meat Puppet’s Cris Kirkwood joined ’70s-era Phoenix punk rockers the Exterminators for the first release of their official debut record.
For old school punk fans who were around in 1985, you might remember “The Tour,” featuring some of SST’s best. This upcoming tour is really close to the legendary tour, only needing members from Saccharine Trust and SWA to complete the 5 band gigging machine.
