SXSW Music Festival 2017 Announces Eighth Round of Showcasing Artists Including Pussy Riot Theatre, Otep and Teen Daze

Another week, another addition to the 2017 SXSW Music Festival lineup. This eighth addition includes some big names, tons of rising artists and one big exciting announcement.

As far as the most established artists that will be joining the always-massive lineup out in Austin, TX on March 10-19, that includes Los Angeles metal group Otep, electronic-pop artist Teen Daze and, in the biggest announcement so far for SXSW (besides scoring a talk from FBI head James Comey) is that Russian punk/performance art collective Pussy Riot will perform as “Pussy Riot Theatre” in premiering their play Revolution.

Otep, led by the enigmatic and iconic frontwoman Otep Shamaya, released a new album this time last year. Titled Generation Doom, the album manages to take nu-metal influenced sounds and keep them relevant and fresh – all with a healthy dose of rage thrown in.

Teen Daze, the project of mononymous artist Jamison, releases its latest album, Themes for Dying Earth today. The musicians recently spoke with mxdwn about that album and more here.

Other names worth noting in the lineup is Los Angeles indie rockers Death Hymn Number 9 and Los Angeles-by-way-of-Portland stoner goofballs White Fang.
