As a part of their up coming album Spirit, which will be released on March 17 through Columbia, the band has released a song that will be a part of the album called “Where’s the Revolution”. According to Pitchfork, this album will be the first album release since Delta Machine, which was released in 2013.
The song was written by Martin Gore, and has been called for a change of political and humanistic. As Gahan told Rolling Stones, “I wouldn’t call this a political album, because I don’t listen to music in a political way. But it’s definitely about humanity, and our place in that. If we want things to change, a revolution, we need to talk about it and about caring about what goes on in the world. It doesn’t seem the way things are in London. We seem to be going in another direction, and I think Martin felt like he needed to express that.”
The song has a repetitive drum and guitar beat, as the chorus sings “where the revolution?” Through the song, the lyrics speak about “getting on board” to the path of revolution and change. The song can be listen to, below.
Along with the release of this song and the future release of the album, Depeche Mode will also be performing at the Nos Alive Festival.
