Piebald @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 5/25

Good news for Piebald fans in the tri-state area. The band is back on tour. They played a bunch of reunion shows last year–the “You’re Part of It” tour–which was their first set after breaking up in 2008, and now they’re back again hitting stages in NJ, NY, CT and their home state of Massachusetts at Boston Calling in May.

It seems to be a trend lately–emo-punk bands that created the scene back in the day to start coming around again, and it’s only more special with Piebald because of their unexpected dissolve that nobody thought they’d bounce back from. But when you listen to their early albums, especially We Are the Only Friends We Have, the band’s third full-length album with hit songs like “American Hearts” and “Long Nights” you’re reminded again just how great this band is. Lyrics like “Nice to meet you. We can’t wow you with our people skills. We make enemies not friends. Your name again?” in the song “Karate Chops For Everyone But Us” highlights their true pop-punk side that’s also pretty emo and makes you not want to care about anything else in the world but music–just like the old days in the scene.

In 2010 a live album called Nobody’s Robots: A Farewell to Piebald was released, three years after their last official record called Accidental Gentleman, which is a bit more angsty and alternative like their second album If It Weren’t for Venetian Blinds…It Would Be... Catch them play while you can. And when they sing “Hey! You’re part of it! Yeah! You’re part of it” well, you really will be and it’ll be so awesome.
