Mississippi-bred, Nashville-livin’ rockers The Weeks are about to release their third full-length album, with two singles already released called “Talk Like That” and “Gold Don’t Rust.” It’s on the high-energy side of the band’s spectrum, similar to “Buttons” and “The House That We Grew Up In” off their first record Comeback Cadillac from 2008—songs that are gritty and catchy and make you want to clap along to, and that the band plays really hard live. But there is a softer side to the band, as well, which you can hear on beautiful songs like “A Slave to the South” and “Chickahominy” that the band sings with extreme passion about their southern roots, dramatic life stories, and family.
Cyle and Cain Barnes are twin brothers in the band, along with Samuel Williams and Damien Bone. Go to their show and you’ll see the guys walking around the venue with beers, smoking cigarettes outside, and looking just as chill as everyone in the audience, just maybe with more tattoos. They’re young guys, but their sound doesn’t hint at that, especially when you hear Cyle’s massively deep voice that surely does not fit his lanky frame.
The Weeks are currently signed to Kings of Leon’s Serpents and Snakes Records. And with each record, EP, live performance, it’s obvious that they just want to have fun with it and keep pouring themselves into making fearless rock that’ll make you want to sing along, get sweaty while doing it, and might even inspire you to start saying ya’ll cause they make it sound just that cool.
