Major Lazer, who will be performing at the Way Out West Festival, recently released a new song called “Run Up” which features PARTYNEXTDOOR and Nicki Minaj.
The beat in the song brings out a repetitive danceable mood. Along with the repetitive beat, the artist repeats lyrics of “Imma run up on you”. This is similar to the style of “Cold Water” by Justin Bieber.
According to the press release, Diplo says “It’s always important for us to work with people who are on the same wave. Nicki and Party really helped us bring the classic Major Lazer style to create this perfect party record.” Walshy also added “Major Lazer is all about making the world smaller by making the party bigger. This felt like the perfect song to start off 2017.” When making Run Up, Diplo had said “Partynextdoor is a good friend of ours. We’re always working in LA when he is around and we’ve cut a lot of music and we really believe in what he does and his style. He came up with a great song. I’ve always wanted to work with Nicki as well, she’s on our short list. Of course this record…..she just vibed with it, she loved the feeling and timing was right so we got her on it. So hopefully we can do a lot more with her next time, we’ve traded some music back and forth so hopefully we got some of that done.”
