Sargent House is getting busy.
Longtime label alum Emma Ruth Rundle (Red Sparowes, Marriages) is releasing a split EP with Sargent House’s newest member, Jaye Jayle of Louisville (KY represent). The split EP, The Time Between Us, is due out February 24th and will boast three previously unreleased tracks from each artist. Rundle, who’s fresh off the release of her breakout third album, Marked for Death, dropped the first single off the upcoming EP.
The new track, “The Distance,” is a dark and brooding (but kind of sexy) rock track. Distorted and dulling guitar strums drape the track as Rundle softly breathes life into the track with her breathy crooning and singing, something fans will recognize instantly. It’s a perfect track to listen to driving around country roads on a warm summer night.
In addition to the lead single, the EP will feature one more unreleased track from Rundle (“To Fold’In England [Hours]”) and an acoustic version of Marked for Death track “Hand of God.”
On Side B, Kentucky’s very own Jaye Jayle (Evan Patteson of Young Widows) will take over with three new songs. While there is no single out yet from Jayle, fans of the stripped-down, deconstructed and dreary take on Southern rock seen on their debut House Cricks and Other Excuses to Get Out will feel right at home as the band aims to continue their restrained, tense rock on the new EP.
In addition to the new EP, the two will both embark on extensive tours (though not together) throughout the spring to support The Time Between Us. Emma Ruth Rundle will tour in support of Deafheaven and This Will Destroy You in February and March, while Jaye Jayle will be the supporting act for Oathbreaker in March and April. The two, however, will team up together for a European tour, culminating around the Roadburn Festival in The Netherlands.
