Bowling for Soup @ Bottom Lounge (3/31)

Bowling for Soup the pop-punk band from Texas will be playing the Bottom Lounge on March 31st.  This will be a stop on the band’s Midwest/East Coast tour which they announced on Facebook.  Their recently released album Drunk Dynasty is the group’s eleventh studio release.

The group – aka BFS – rose to fame with the release of their 2004 album A Hangover You Don’t Deserve.  The disc produced hit singles “1985” and “Almost”.  The steady evolution of Bowling for Soup’s pop-punk sound from their hits “Girl All The Bad Guys Want” to their cover of “Stacey’s Mom” becomes more nuanced on tracks from Drunk Dynasty.  “Hey Diane” pays homage to the formula that drove the band’s signature sound.  Bowling for Soup is also known for their covers.  They released Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies, which consists of cover songs and songs from movie soundtracks – most notably “I Melt With You”.

The punk group has been together since 1994 and the band is known for their catchy tunes with humorously relatable lyrics.  And while obviously older now, they still give off the vibe of a teen punk band.  The group is quick to poke fun at themselves and definitely have fun with their music.
