It’s festival announcement season, you already know what it is.
This time around it’s the Boston Calling Music Festival, the three-day music festival held annually (since 2013) in downtown Boston. While the festival was initially held in City Hall Plaza, the festival is moving to the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston to keep up with the ever expanding lineup.
The festival, primarily centered around the indie and pop-rock genres, have included notorious acts such as Jack Johnson, Fun, Vampire Weekend, Beck, Pixes, Alabama Shakes, Ben Harper and several others.
This year, the festival will take place over Memorial Day weekend, and will boast one of the more impressive lineups for festivals this year.
Headliners will include Mumford and Sons, Chance the Rapper, and Tool (don’t talk to me unless it’s about a new album). Other impressive acts including Bon Iver, The xx, The 1975, Solange, Run the Jewels, and a slew of others are all slated to make an appearance. If you’re in the Boston area, you don’t want to miss this one.
In case you can’t make it to Boston in time, several of the artists will be all over the country during the festival season. The xx, who released a new song last week, will be at the Shaky Knees festival as well as their own North American tour. Other headliner Mumford and Sons will be at the Hangout Music Festival along with Frank Ocean and Major Lazer (also at Boston Calling). Tool will also be at the Governor’s Ball along with Boston Calling performer Chance the Rapper.

[UPDATE: 4/6] Boston Calling organizers announced today that the film festival curated by Natalie Portman has been postponed for a future festival. But don’t fear, organizers have quickly replaced the film portion with a comedy expo hosted by none other than Hannibal Buress, featuring sets by Tig Notaro, Pete Holmes, and Eugene Mirman, among others.
