Ms. Lauryn Hill @ House of Blues (2/6)

The elusive Lauryn Hill returns to perform in Chicago next month.  She performed here to a sold out crowd this past summer at Ravinia where her set received rave reviews from concertgoers.

The singer/songwriter/rapper/record producer and actress is famous for being the female lead of hip-hop trio Fugees.  The group’s debut album, The Score, released in 1996, continues to be the best-selling rap album of all time.  It included the legendary hit “Killing Me Softly”.

After the Fugees disbanded, Hill continued her success with the release of her critically acclaimed solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998.  The album blurred the lines between, R&B, reggae and neo soul and sold a million copies in the first two months in the US.

In more recent years, Hill has kept out of the spotlight for the most part.  She intended for her The MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! Tour to last from late summer to early fall, however, it has been extended until the end of April.  “The MLH Caravan allows me to continue the theme of unity and celebration of the many facets of cultural and artistic beauty throughout the African diaspora while on tour…” she writes of the tour which features a special guest artist at each show.  Don’t miss her at House of Blues February 6th.
