Indie rock band Turnover is making their way into the city this February. The band is making their way in as an opener for Circa Survive’s 10 Year On Letting Go tour. The four-piece band will be taking their turn on the stage of the Warfield.
It’s a little confusing when trying to explain to people what exactly the genre Turnover falls into other than saying “rock”; it’s more complex than that. The band put out their debut self-titled EP Turnover back in 2011, which has the notable songs Sasha and Solitude. Those songs can be described as pop-punk, maybe even emo-pop. Their first album Magnolia, which came out in 2013, can be described as straight emo with a little bit of shoegaze influence. That particular album is best known for the songs Shiver and Most of the Time. Then with their most recent sophomore release, Peripheral Vision, they can be described as indie rock and dream rock. These are huge differences to rock fans, so yeah, I got you dude and broke it down for ya. My favorite songs of Turnover’s are Sasha, Cutting My Fingers Off, and Waiting. This band has been hitting the touring scene pretty heavily since their inception and signing to Run For Cover Records, so by chance you’ll see them circulating the rock scene for the time to come.
I remember listening to their first EP in high school and their sound blew my mind. I had never heard something so angsty, so emotional, so cool, and thus my introduction to the world of pop-punk and tiny shows around my area. This band is sick, their songs are sick, and their performances are killer. Sure, the band might be coming back around soon, but, dude, take the plunge and grab a ticket and let this band blow your mind the way it did mine.
