When one band ended, Star Parks began. Released on Paper Trail Records, this Austin-based group fronted by Andy Bianculli has done rather well for themselves. Bianculli had most of the songs already written before finding the rest of his band, which includes Ben Burdick, Maurice Ramos, Nathaniel Klugman and Keith Lough.
When you listen to Star Parks’ premiere album Don’t Dwell you are rushed by a dreamy pop-rock sound, instilled with lyrics about past relationships and failures, best suited for a long, sunny drive that goes well into the night. The song “Theoretical Girls” is a nostalgic tune, soft and beautiful, and feels like it could definitely be in a movie–one of those scenes where the song makes the whole scene what it is. Songs like “Egotist” make up the band’s poppier side, while the first song on the album “Hymn for the Hopeless” truly embodies their sheer, more mystical sound.
Star Parks is a relatively new band, having just released Don’t Dwell in 2016, but it’s a debut that’ll catch you, make you feel good, and will no doubt excite you for what else the band will come up with on future records.
