Best selling artist and queen of glitter Mariah Carey is making a stop in Oakland this spring. This tour is so fantastic Mariah herself is only featured, she is opening for the R&B legend Lionel Richie for his All The Hits tour.
Carey is well known for her pop music and is credited as one of the best selling artists in music history as she has sold over 200 million records worldwide. She has been killing it musically for the better part of the past 20 years. Not only is her music iconic and instantly recognizable, but she is known for her insane five-octave vocal range and is able to hit notes beyond the 7th octave. In layman’s terms her voice is simply out of this world. Recently, she released her 2014 album Me. I Am Mariah, which is responsible for her hit You Don’t Know What To Do, which features rapper Wale. My personal favorite was her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi. That album was my jam back then; it was responsible for the monster hits Shake It Off, We Belong Together, and It’s Like That. You couldn’t turn the radio on without hearing one of those songs back then. Don’t even get me started on her famous and legendary rendition of All I Want For Christmas, it’s regularly on the top charts during Christmas time and is just… timeless.
This woman is a star and will continue to stun her audiences. Currently, she has a residency in Las Vegas for her Number 1 to Infinity show and she films her own docu-series Mariah’s World that airs on the E! News channel. Fans of Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Mary J. Blige already know this wonderful woman and her talents, but should definitely pick up a ticket to watch her rock it on stage. Younger fans of Ariana Grande, Beyonce, and Jessie J can add Mimi to their playlists if they haven’t had the pleasure of already enjoying the entirety of Carey’s discography. Mariah Carey’s voice is unrivaled and her performances live always live up to her singing chops. I’m not going to try to continue to convince you to catch this show because we all know how iconic Mariah is.
