Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman Release Cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Democracy” for PEN America

After Amanda Palmer recently released a new cover for a Leonard Cohn track, she has banded together with Neil Gaiman.  The duo have together recorded a new version of “Democracy.” Amanda composed the music on the piano while Neil recorded the lyrics. In addition to the song their friends David Mack and Olga Nunes together created a great video to follow the song. The song is given as a gift to support PEN America.

For those of us who are unfamiliar with PEN America, it is a program that stands and utilizes literature and human rights to protect free expression not just in the United States, but also worldwide. Their mission is to unite writers and other allies to celebrate creative expression and defend our civil liberties that this country was founded on.

The track is available for purchase through her bandcamp.
